Stp Hundius

Updated October 30 2004.

The Stp Hundius was made of numerous anti aircraft guns and MG.
At the end of May 1944 the battery was made of 5XR134, 3XR502, 4XR671 and one M157 Leitstand.
Another bunker of what is probably a M270 was constructed but has disappeared.
The R134 is sometimes beeing confused with the 52aSK.  The 52aSK served as a 'Gruppenunderstand' bunker but this isn't likely because the R502 served for this purpose on this battery.  The R134 is more likely than the 52aSK because this is an ammunitionbunker which provided the 4 R671 bunkers.
Location 30 has been confirmed a second time.  A515L has been incorporated into the dike but isn't visible anymore.

Location of the Mkb Hundius battery: Left: The circle with cross represents the lighthouse of Ostend harbour.
At the left there's the 'Halve Maan' battery and the numbered location represents the Hundius battery wich you can see on the right map.
These two charts are extracted from the NGI(Nationaal Geografisch Instituut) CD-ROM and may not be reproduced.  Numbers are assigned with a Garmin Etrex Legend GPS device.  There's some doubt about the first R671(number 2) location.  As the GPS device wasn't yet synchronised with the Navstar satellites yet, this location must be move a little more to the NE direction.

Partial overview of the Hundius Marine battery: Left you have number 3, One of the three R502 bunkers.
Upper right there's the M157 Leitstand(7) and further on you can see two R671 bunkers.

R502 number 3 with next to it a number 4, a concrete shelter or office.
In the background you can see 2 R671 bunkers, number 2 and 5.

The picture on the right leads to the exit near the R134 above.

R134 Plan.  Numbers are from Rudi Rolf(c) www.rudirolf.name.

There are 5 of them at the Hundius battery.  Sometimes (wrongly ?) referred as a 52aSK.
Two special entrances are constructed on each of the R134 bunkers at the Hundius battery.
They differ slightly from the plan above, but the main construction with two rooms(munitionsraum number 4) remains the same.  The bunker is also referred as 'Munitionsunterstand I'.

Two bunkernumbers on the R502 from above.  Can't really figure that out for the moment.  Left and right entrance.

Bereitschaftsraum(left room number 3).

_

Office section: number 15.

Left entrance of R134(number 28).  This is the only entrance of this type.
The other R134 bunkers have a direct access under ground.

__

Left: Very clean entrance, just like new.
Middle: At the end of the same entrance there's a number written on the wall.  Can't make anything about it.
Right: Corridor view but from the other entrance.

This should have been the position were the 515 was located.  It is now incorporated into the dike.
Number 30 on plan.

_

Left: Number 31, R502 but obscured by another brick building.
Right: Number 32, R134.
Both bunkers are private property and cannot be entered.  Location on the chart is aproximate.
