Along
the canal from Bruges to Gent you will still find 5 identical bunkers which
are build in 1941-1942.
The
bunkers were meant as a shelter for German soldiers who were preparing
'Operation Seelöwe', the German invasion into England which never
came.
This
region is known for the battle of 'Moerbrugge' during the liberation days.
BOOS01
This is the first bunker with close to it
a water or fuel reservoir.
The bunkers are all the same and have 4
rooms. Lenght=25.7m On each side there is a fire protected
entrance.
The bunkers are now beeing used as a bat
shelter and only one bunker can be entered. The bunkers are in a
very good shape.
